Jimmy Who??

As women many of us have this love affair or should we say obsession with shoes. Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Chanel or maybe even Mollini or Evelyn Miles.

One woman who knows shoes is Kim Kardashian. Kim has long been one of the most fashionable celebrities in Hollywood and the co-founder and chief stylist for ShoeDazzle. Kim is now joining forces with Soles4Souls who's simple mission is to impact as many lives as possible with the gift of shoes.

I guess I have never really thought about the many children in the world who have no shoes to wear. With only a $5 donation which is the cost of a Starbucks Venti Frapuccino you can make a world of difference and put a smile on a child's face. What an amazing gift!!!

Before you tell yourself that you cant afford $5 or you'll do it tomorrow...At times I too felt that I didnt have the money to give. During that time I was living in Miami and each day I would come downstairs from my apartment on the beach, see homeless men and women begging for food and money. It was then that I realised that TODAY they need the $5 more than I do and I didnt even have to miss out on my Starbucks.

How great will you feel next time you're buying a latte and wearing a beautiful pair of shoes, you will remember that you have given that feeling to a child who will most likely never get to see a pair of Manolo's.....and Jimmy Who??

Miranda Kerr....what an Angel

Our home grown Aussie girl Miranda Kerr is definately one young woman we can be inspired by. At 25 she may still be quite young but is already revealing lofty ambitions away from the catwalk.

Miranda plans to launch a book titled "Treasure Yourself". Its an inspirational and motivational book for young women. Written from her own personal experiences with tips that are tried and tested. Miranda swears by organic food and regular yoga and it shows!

Despite being surrounded by the glitz and glam with an enviable lifestyle, the supermodel is really just a hippie at heart. Miranda's hopes and dreams include living in a solar-powered house with a vegetable garden out the back. Its about taking small steps which make a world of difference.

The hippy Angel even takes the charger out of the wall to save electricity and uses energy efficient light bulbs....who said you cant have it all!!!

Victoria's Secret to losing weight....

Some critics feel that ''The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show'' objectifies women and is inappropriate for network television. Are those critics just bitter, envious people who wish they were hot like Heidi Klum and our very own Miranda Kerr.

Today Oprah Winfrey was almost in tears, no not a my place....but on E Channel of course. She had failed at her resolution to lose weight, to keep it off and to look like the amazing self she sees herself wanting to be!

Having worked in advertising I would often hear that our magazines and models do nothing more than make women feel even worst about themselves. I would put up my hand and definately disagree. Dont get me wrong I have suffered through my pudgy days, binging days or was it years? I pumped iron and got bigger - not a pretty look and I've lived on boiled chicken fillets and steamed rice for about 4 months - a cranky woman with a 6 pack isn't very sexy!!

I am sure that these glossy images of beautiful long legged goddesses did have an impact on my life as they do now but I would have to say its been for the better. I would like to share a message that we can be inspired by beauty, the body in its finest form and instead of envying other women we let it empower us to work on and better ourselves.

As the years went by I learnt to stop looking at the problem and began focusing on the solution. It is only then that my body began to change. I began to listen to what my body wanted instead of giving it grueling sessions at the gym. Today I still work out but in a very different way and with a very different mindset.

I realised that I will never look like Heidi Klum but I can take the essence of the beauty, strength, confidence, power, sensuality that is in her and find it in myself. Let these women inspire you and ask yourself - how do I want to look and feel about myself and so the next time you open the freezer for that tub of ice cream you can ask yourself whether that action supports your dream and goal for a better body.

And there will be days like today that a block of Cadbury's instead of a jog is just what I needed! The SECRET is to make sure that the Cadbury days are less than the jogging ones. So be good to yourself and next time you see beauty and recognise it in another know that its also inside of you waiting to be expressed.

I hope watching the Victoria's Secrets show will inspire you to grow those wings and fly.

The Millionaires club where green is glam

This is a millionaires club with a big difference. Its not about how many millions you have but how many millions we don't need.....that is the 1 Million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), the main greenhouse pollutant causing global warming.

Sure we've heard about the effects of climate change but how do we, each and every one of us make a change so that WE are part of the solution and not part of the problem. Surely we are astounded by the statistics and the imagery, the tsunami's and the weather in our own cities but are we taking responsibility and doing our bit. Do we even know what our bit really is?

If one woman has the power to transform the world then collectively we can create great change in our own lives and on the planet. I am once again reminded that life does not change if I am observing from the sidelines and wondering why no one is doing anything about it.

The question is am I, and are you?

Climate change is real and it is transforming the way we live and the way society operates. Science is telling us that we are on course for a climate disaster and there is a great urgency to take action now. There are no excuses to not act and there is extraordinary power in women joining forces and working together.

Many months ago I "accidently" came across 1 Million Women a campaign of daughters, mothers, sisters and grandmothers - Committed to protecting our climate, our communities and our future and leading change for the better.

Their goal is to inspire 1 million Australian women to take practical action on climate change by cutting 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), the main greenhouse pollutant causing global warming. Every woman who joins has a personal goal to cut 1 tonne of CO2 from their daily lives within a year of joining the campaign. 1 Million Women - a million tonnes of CO2. It's a huge challenge.

Through such unity of purpose, women here in Australia can influence women around the world. I'm in!! So join me and the other incredible women who are leading the way.....www.1millionwomen.com.au

Designer life.....Dream on baby!!

Some girls play with dolls, I never did apparently but instead spent my childhood looking at books, and drawing in them.
Perhaps I always knew that stories can be re-written and all that was needed was our imagination.

From my days in advertising I would sit night after night devouring the images of the glossy magazines and tearing out the pages which sparked my imagination. Don't we all do that??

Years on and this has become a ritual. When I feel like a change is coming and my style is changing and evolving I look to the glossy images of my favourite brands for inspiration. A few years ago I started what I call a dream book with pictures of what I want my privileged life to feel like which has also inspired a few people along the way who I hope have finished theirs (they know who they are) .

I was excited by the prospect of knowing that I could design my life, that yes I could have what I wanted if only I dared to try. Life is not passive, it requires some input from us to create and take action each and every day.

What I discovered is that we are not limited by our current reality but are in fact powerful manifestors creating our reality at all times through what we think, what we feel and what we act upon and that our intuition is always guiding us. This is what determines where our future takes us. I encourage you to start your own dream book and watch your "designer" life unfold.

Here are a few inspirational images to start you on your path...from the very glam life that Gucci sells ...I'm buying!!!

ECO CHIC - Gucci saves the planet one t-shirt at a time

Another incredible woman who not only designs for the most coveted brand on the planet but who is putting her hand up and doing her bit to save it.

Gucci is proud to announce its support for HOME the unique cinematic environmental film which takes an unprecedented approach in exploring the current state of the planet through aerial images in more than fifty countries around the world, with the objective being the increased awareness of major environmental and social challenges facing humankind.

We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth's climate.

The stakes are high for us and our children. Everyone should take part in the effort, and HOME has been conceived to take a message of mobilization out to every human being.

In honor of the film, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has designed a special limited edition t-shirt. Extending the message of sustainability Giannini designed the t-shirt using 100% organic cotton and natural dyes in recyclable packaging.

Anyone who watches this film will not fail to be deeply moved by the incredible images captured by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. It is a truly remarkable call to act for all of us who plan in protecting the planet for the generations to come.

We love you Gucci!

It really is a Womans World

With only 3 days left to the end of 2009, many of us are looking forward to the end and to a new beginning that the new year promises.

Every year we find ourselves in the same place, frantically shopping for that perfect dress so that we too can look perfect for this time in history that will never be again and for the new year ahead.

So as I sit here contemplating what I will do to bring in and celebrate the start of 2010, I am reminded that I can choose what I truly want versus what I should want. This is the same for all those times when we believe "we have to" do something we don't really want to. May you listen to that voice inside that always guides you to the right place, the right people and the right choices.

Today an old friend reminded me that some of us are not always ready to make changes in our lives no matter how much we may want them.

APRIVILEGEDLIFE is about making changes. It is for women who are ready to find new ways of living and new ways of being and creating for themselves what I call a privileged life. I wish to share with all who will listen, some will not, others are not ready to hear it and many will surely be inspired.

A WOMANS WORLD is a new world where women learn to love who they are, honor their greatness, connect with their truth and help other women who are less fortunate.

We bring you ideas and inspiration in fashion, beauty, health, lifestyle, wealth creation, business and personal growth. We bring you access to the very best that life has to offer through education, empowerment, inspiration and connection. Our goal is to help you find your true voice for self expression in the world.

I started a privileged life because through my darkest times and my greatest challenges I realised that its not where we come from or who are parents are that determines our destiny but rather who we choose to be. Growing up in a good family does not necessarily guarantee a successful outcome and riches but following our dreams and getting up again and again after we fall is what determines where we end up.

I hope to inspire women everywhere to get up after they have fallen and to remember that the light shines brightly within us all.

As women we can achieve great things in the world. I invite you to join me on a journey to celebrate and support women across the globe so that we can all reach our full potential and live with joy and purpose.

Welcome

xx

Designer with a definate edge

Now here's a designer who knows how to make a woman feel beautiful. I had the pleasure of wearing a Seychelles dress by CARL when I was out at the Woollahra in Sydney. I felt like a goddess and have to admit I did turn a few heads! Thanks Carl!

Carl loves natural fibres like wool, silk, cotton and cashmere. Each collection is a juxtaposition of colour, texture and clever detailing; soft draping vs. structured tailoring is a play on masculine vs. feminine.

I know its still summer and with the weather the last thing we're thinking about is winter....so here is a sneak peak of some of my favourites after being invited to attend the exclusive CARL Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection Fashion Show. Showcased at a VIP event held at Stills Gallery in Paddington.

Carls obsession with luxurious fabrics is apparent in each new collection – every garment is soft and tactile, seducing the customer into trying it on only to notice the perfect cut and detailing

Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman and Rose Byrne....are all talented beautiful women with CARL in their wardrobes. The online store is now open to cater for the growing demand for CARL KAPP.

Go ahead check it out.....www.carlkapp.com
